Collection consists of: Two notebooks containing manuscript text beginning a history of the Boston Society of Architects, 1901-1941, one listing the presidents and secretaries of the Society, and one containing biographical material on the architects, Constant-Désiré Despradelle, Frank A. Bourne, and Henry Bacon; a typescript copy of his history of the B.S.A.; the Year-book of the Boston Society of Architects for 1909 and a Report of the Committee on Ways and Means of the Society, dated September 1914; a folder containing "Meeting in memorium Desire Despradelle," March 10, 1913, with text of remarks by Ralph Adams Cram; and a folder of miscellaneous notes.

In 1887 Cram joined with Charles Wentworth to open an architectural office (Cram and Wentworth) in Boston. In 1891 Bertram G. Goodhue joined them. Shortly thereafter Wentworth died and the firm became Cram, Goodhue & Ferguson, which it remained until 1910 when Goodhue left to form his own firm in New York. Henry Bacon, an oil and watercolor painter, served in the Union army during the Civil War as a field artist for LESLIE'S WEEKLY. Wounded at Bull Run, he was discharged. Circa 1864 he was a student of Alexandre Cabanel at l'Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. He later studied with Edouard Frere at Ecouen. He also spent numerous summers painting at Etretat, France.
